July 4th Safety for Pets
Shelters fill up every year over the July 4th Holidays with frightened, run-away pets
Visitors
Pets often become nervous and frightened around large groups of visitors, particularly cats. So if you have numerous guests, lock your nervous pets away in a quiet place.
Crowds, Parades & Fireworks
Large crowds, parades and festivals associated with the July 4th are not the place for most dogs. Fireworks are extremely frightening to dogs. Leave your pets at home in a secure, quiet location.
Insect Repellents & Sunscreen
Avoid putting bug repellents and sunscreen on your pet, unless it is specifically labeled for use on your pet.
Great Snacks, not so great!
Keep those tasty snacks served over the 4th away from your dog. Many are toxic and a health hazard to your pup; such as grapes, raisins, onions, avocados, chocolate and salt. Keep your pet on their regular diet and avoid diarrhea.
